Lunch With League Friday at St. John’s
The League of Women Voters of Montgomery County will host its next Lunch with the League on Friday at noon. The program will feature Kay Whetstone of Moco Mutual Aid.
Mutual Aid is a type of organization that is both community driven and focused. Co-founded by Kay Whetstone in 2025, Mutual Aid is described as designed to meet the needs that the government and non-profit sectors cannot, or are not willing to, meet. The work of Mutual Aid is focused on solidarity and direct action to make sure people are taken care of. Ending poverty through solidarity is their goal.
Whereas last month’s featured organization, First Door of Montgomery County, is a non-profit program created under United Way of Montgomery County, Whetstone describes Mutual Aid as “coming together to ensure that everyone’s needs are met.”
Whetstone describes herself as an organizer and social worker, a public servant by passion and by trade. Mutual aid aligns with her view on taking a holistic approach to problem solving. Whetstone is also a candidate for Union Township Trustee toward the goal of assisting those in need.
Come hear her speak at Lunch with the League on Friday in Whitlock Hall at St. John’s Episcopal Church from noon to 1 p.m. St. John’s Episcopal Church is located at 212 S. Green St. Plan to bring a sack lunch or a lunch from any of the offerings in town.
