MoCo VSO Shares Exciting Updates for Veterans

This month, there are several great opportunities and important updates for veterans and their families in Montgomery County.

Veteran Charity Golf Tournament

• Date: May 22

• Location: Crawfordsville Municipal Golf Course

• Format: Four-person teams, scramble format

• Start Time: 8 a.m. (shotgun start)

• Cost: $25 per veteran or first responder

• Extras: Lunch for all participants

• Sign-Up Deadline: May 20th at the Municipal Pro Shop

This event is hosted with Folds of Honor. Gather your team and sign up early!

Memorial Day Events – May 25

• Car Cruise-In: Classic, vintage, and antique cars at the American Legion, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.. Rain or shine. Dash Plaques for first 50 vehicles.

• Honor Guard Ceremony: Veterans Memorial Park, 11 a.m. Sharp!

• Lunch at the Legion: Noon – 1:30 p.m. ($10 per person)

New Property Tax Reform for Disabled Veterans Beginning Jan. 1, 2027 (for the 2026 tax year), new property tax benefits are available for disabled veterans. What you need to know:

• Applications required by Dec. 29 (not automatic – must reapply)

• Forms available at Crawfordsville Veteran Service Office starting in JULY

• Bring your current disability awards letter (showing percentage of disability)

• To get a new awards letter: visit VA.gov or call 1-800-827-1000
