Robert “Bob” Hodges

Oct. 6, 1950 – Jan. 30, 2023

Robert Eugene “Bob” Hodges of Crawfordsville passed away Monday, Jan. 30th at St. Vincent’s Hospital on 86th Street.  He was 72.

Born Oct. 6, 1950 in Bedford, Indiana, he was the son of Eugene Palmer Hodges and Lily Pearl McNeely Hodges. 

He married Candace Rutledge on July 15, 1972 and they celebrated 50 years this past summer.

He was a volunteer for several community activities.  He volunteered with the Crawfordsville Municipal Golf Course Youth Camp and the Southmont 7th grade basketball team.  He previously volunteered with the Boys and Girls Club and Junior Achievement.  He was an avid golfer, with five holes-in-one during his lifetime.  The only thing he loved more than golf was his family and friends.

He graduated from Crawfordsville High School, where he was the top seeded player on the golf team.  He then graduated from Indiana University, where he played on the Freshman basketball team.  After graduation, he enlisted in the Army and attended officer candidate school, graduating as a 2nd Lieutenant.  He worked as a purchasing agent for Sommer Metalcraft for 40 years.

Survivors include wife, Candace “Candy” Hodges; son, Chad Palmer Hodges; daughter, Cara Amanda Livingston; two grandsons, Ian Palmer Livingston and Aiden Charles Hodges; one granddaughter, Chloe Amanda Livingston; sister, Linda Hidy.

Visitation will be Sunday, Feb. 19 from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Burkhart Funeral Home.  Memorial services will begin at 2:30. Private inurnment will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery North.
