James Lowell Steele

James Lowell Steele, 59, Crawfordsville, passed away on Monday, Nov. 15, 2021 at Franciscan Health Crawfordsville.

He was the son of Robert Jack and MaryAnn Steele, which he now joined in heaven.

He was happily married to Leesa E. Steele on Nov. 29, 2014. Mr. Steele was a member of the Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Crawfordsville and an active member of The Sons of the American Legion Post 72 in Crawfordsville, as well as a former member of the Crawfordsville Moose Lodge. He worked as a Senior Loss Control Representative for Penn Millers and Grain Dealers Mutual Insurance, where he retired. He enjoyed being with friends and family, drinking beer, watching the Indianapolis Colts and Notre Dame and playing Chess.

Survivors include his wife, Leesa; two sons, Andy (Mary Conley) McVay and Nik (Harmony) Jensen, both of Crawfordsville; a brother, Robert J. Steele II of Huntsville, Ala.; two sisters, Marjorie (Max) Mitchell of Crawfordsville and Eva (Jerry) Silver of Williamsport; a grandson, Brantley; a brother in law, James Joseph II; six nephews, Jediah (Desire) Steele, JD Joseph, Jordan (Mirah) Silver, Jason (Ashley) Silver, Max Alexander Mitchell and Joseph Silver; three nieces, Heather (Daniel) Palmer, Veronica (Nick) Weston and Samantha (Cass) Alward; and several great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister-in-law, Jae Steele.

There will be a Memorial Service at Holy Cross Lutheran Church at 5:00 pm on Thursday, November 18, 2021.
