Honky Tonk Angels Opens in Hillsboro

The Harmony Theater, formerly Myers Dinner Theatre, opens its 2025 season with Ted Swindley’s “Honky Tonk Angels.” This musical, filled with classic country hits, is directed by TJ Bird and runs Friday through March 22.

In “Honky Tonk Angels,” three gutsy gals from different backgrounds take charge of their lives and decide to follow their honky tonk dreams all the way to Nashville. This show combines more than 20 classic country tunes, including “Stand By Your Man,” “9 to 5,” “Harper Valley PTA” and more.

Starring in this production are MDT alumni Lillian North (as Darlene), Zoe Phillips (as Sue Ellen) and Susan Smith (as Angela).

“Honky Tonk Angels” will feature a food menu with theater favorites, as well as items themed to the production. Selections will include: meatloaf, barbecue chicken, North Carolina-style pulled pork, potatoes au gratin, green beans, creamy corn and tomato-zucchini casserole; for dessert, iced vanilla sheet cake and fudge brownies. As usual, all meals will begin with house salad, fresh-baked homemade rolls and the signature broccoli salad – a tradition passed down by Donna Myers.

During the run of “Honky Tonk Angels,” a concert by local musician, Logan Kirby, will be presented on March 8. Meal will begin at 6 p.m. and the show will begin at 7:30 p.m.
