Lunch & Learn Sessions Focus on Suicide Prevention

September is Suicide Prevention Month, and Volunteers for Mental Health and Youth Service Bureau, both United Way agencies,  are combining their resources to train individuals in how to best serve a friend, colleague or family member who is considering taking their own life.

On Tuesday, Sept. 9 and Thursday, Sept. 19, lunch and learn sessions will be held  at HHSB Success Center to help attendees learn the QPR method of suicide prevention.  Sara Clapp, program director at Montgomery County Youth Service Bureau will share her knowledge by explaining the simple steps of QPR and she will provide strategies for responding to a potentially suicidal friend, colleague or family member.

The program begins at 11:30 with free lunch, followed by Clapp’s presentation.  Participants will also receive supportive materials and a certificate which can be applied toward professional development for job and licensing requirements.

Pre-registration and lunch rsvp are required no later than one week prior to each workshop. Visit www.vmhmc.org to register.  Questions may be directed to Denise Booher Walker, (765) 275-2689; email:  dbw@vmhmc.org
