Brownsburg Rider Killed in County

A Brownsburg man lost his life when a pair of motorcycles went off State Road 234 in Montgomery County last week.

According to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, 47-year-old David Sturm was riding with two other motorcyclists Wednesday. The trio was heading east on 234 near County Road 550 South when Sturm’s 2000 Harley-Davidson left the road for an unknown reason – as did one of his fellow riders Jacob Stevenson, a 34-year-old from Crawfordsville. Sturm was transported from the site but died en route to the hospital.

Stevenson was treated for a leg injury. The third rider, 44-year-old Dustin Wood from Jamestown, did not crash. However, he was arrested by the Indiana State Police for operating while intoxicated.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by fire departments from Alamo, New Market, Waveland and Crawfordsville, as well as the Crawfordsville Police Department and ISP.

The crash is still under investigation and authorities ask if anyone has information to contact Capt. Jake Watson at (765) 362-3740.
