‘1984’ Begins Wabash College Theater Season

The Wabash College theater season kicked off earlier this week with George Orwell’s “1984.” The play, adapted by Robert Owens, Wilton E. Hall Jr., and William A. Miles Jr., is directed by Associate Professor of Theater Jim Cherry.

Winston Smith toes the Party line, rewriting history to satisfy the demands of the Ministry of Truth. With each lie he writes, Winston grows to hate the Party that seeks power for its own sake and persecutes those who dare to commit thoughtcrimes. But as he starts to think for himself, Winston can’t escape the fact that Big Brother is always watching . . .

Additional performances are scheduled for Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2:30 p.m.

The cast and crew features: Alex Schmidt, Andres Ornelas, Boston Cahoon, Carson Wirtz, Eamon Colglazier, Evan Furuness, George Shagley, Isabella de Assis-Wilson, Javier Cabrera, Jim Cherry, Kat Cherry, Nicholas Kvachkoff, Preston Parker, Sean Bledsoe and Xavier Cienfuegos.
