North Central Indiana Celebrates Arts
Bravo for the Arts took place in Lafayette on Oct. 24, in celebration of the achievements of The Arts Federation and the businesses, organizations and individuals who contribute to make Indiana’s cultural community thrive. Hundreds of individuals representing the north central Indiana arts sector attended the event that took place at the Outpost Catering and Banquet Hall.
The Bravo program began with a Land Acknowledgement and National Arts and Humanities Proclamation. Leaders Erin Easter, Mayor of the City of West Lafayette and Ron Alting, Indiana State Senator collectively recognized October as Arts and Humanities Month. TAF’s CEO, Tetia Lee, provided an overview of the organization’s annual programmatic and service impact on the region. She recognized TAF’s Regional Advisory Council for its efforts in creating more equitable access to the arts in the region.
Select arts organizations receiving operating support and project support totaling $189,186 were recognized by Senator Alting. Eight organizations received capital grants totaling $250,000 from funds awarded by North Central Health Services and administered by TAF. Grant dollars were delivered to recipients by NCHS Director of Community Benefit and Outreach, Michelle Kreinbrook.
This year’s NCHS grantees include:
- Tippecanoe County Historical Association – $5,122.95
- Lafayette Flute Choir – $11,000
- The Robert and Ellen Haan Museum of Indiana Art – $14,019
- Veedersburg Revitalization Association – $24,445.22
- Monon Civic Preservation Society – $25,000
- Carroll County Wabash & Erie Canal, Inc. – $32,573
- Carroll County Historical Society – $59,775
- Songwriter’s Association of Mid-North Indiana – $78,064.83
The event concluded with the presentation of TAF’s annual awards recognizing outstanding arts leaders and businesses.
