Running for Office? Read This
Have you ever considered running for local government office? Purdue Extension, in partnership with the Montgomery County Clerk’s Office, invites community members to learn more about what it takes to run for local elected office.
This informational program is designed for citizens who may be interested in running for local office in 2026 or in the future. Participants will gain an overview of the election process, learn which local positions will be on the ballot in upcoming elections, and explore the roles, responsibilities, and qualifications associated with those offices. The program will also highlight available resources for candidates and discuss ethical considerations involved in both campaigning and serving in public office.

Not interested in running for office? That’s okay this program is still for you. Learn how you can play an important role in the electoral process. Running fair and just elections depends on informed and engaged community volunteers, and there are many ways to get involved.
