CFD Hosts ‘POV Experience: Station Life’ Open House for Firefighter and EMS Applicants
The Crawfordsville Fire Department will host a public open house event on Saturday, offering community members a first-hand look at what it’s like to live and work inside a Crawfordsville fire station.
The POV Experience: “CFD Station Life” open house will be held from 10 a.m. to noon at Station 1 located at 110 S Water St. This event is open to anyone interested in applying for full-time firefighter or civilian EMS positions.
Attendees will have the opportunity to meet on-duty firefighters and EMS Staff, tour the station, explore fire and EMS apparatus, observe daily routines, and learn how teamwork, training, and preparation shape everyday life at CFD. The experience also includes a peek at one of the most valued traditions in firehouse culture, preparing and sharing meals as a team.
CFD is currently accepting applications for multiple open positions through Friday, Dec. 26. No prior fire or EMS experience is required. Applicants who receive a conditional job offer will be enrolled in either a paid five-week Advanced EMT program or a paid 16-week Fire/EMS Academy, both sponsored by the department.
“This open house will give applicants a realistic, behind-the-scenes look at what it means to serve our community,” said Deputy Chief Paul Miller. “We want prospective candidates to experience our culture, ask questions, and see how rewarding this career can be.”
The hiring process includes a written Work Keys exam, interviews, physical agility testing, and CPAT certification. Successful candidates will begin training on Feb. 9, 2026.
