Intermittent I-74 Closures Beginning

If you travel from Crawfordsville to Hendricks County on Interstate 74, you might want to allow a little extra for the drive.

The Indiana Department of Transportation told The Paper that intermittent left lane closures will impact traffic in both directions between Crawfordsville and Brownsburg.
Beginning today (or soon), crews will close the left shoulders in both directions of I-74, and close the left lanes as needed to install cable barrier in the median. The new cable barrier will be located between State Road 32 and S.R. 267. While this stretch of roadway is 27 miles in length, work will only be happening in one direction at a time for up to three miles.
Construction is anticipated to last until October but is weather-dependent and subject to change. INDOT encourages drivers to use caution and avoid distractions in and around work zones.
