Musical adaptation of the well-loved children’s books, “A Year With Frog And Toad” takes The Harmony Theater stage running April 1 through April 11 in Hillsboro, Indiana. This family-friendly production based on the books by Arnold Lobel, features music by Robert Reale, along with book and lyrics by Willie Reale. ‘Frog And Toad’ is directed by Austin Michael Russell, with music direction by John Phillips and choreography by Lillian A. Leslie. With an approximate running time of one hour, this show is ideal for young children, along with the entire family.

A hit on Broadway, “A Year with Frog and Toad” was nominated for three Tony Awards –including Best Musical. This whimsical show follows two great friends – the cheerful, popular Frog and the rather grumpy Toad – through four fun-filled seasons. Waking from hibernation in the Spring, Frog and Toad plant gardens, swim, rake leaves, go sledding and learn life lessons along the way. The two best friends celebrate and rejoice in the differences that make them unique and special. Part vaudeville, part make believe, all charm – “A Year with Frog and Toad” tells the story of a friendship that endures throughout the seasons. The jazzy, upbeat score of “A Year with Frog and Toad” bubbles with melody and wit, making it an inventive, exuberant and enchanting musical for all ages.

Starring in this production are Harmony alumni Noah Johnson as Frog and Matthew Adam Hawkins as Toad, along with Victoria Behny as Bird/Snail/Lizard/Others, Lillian A. Leslie as Bird/Turtle/Others and Kate Mobley as Bird/Mouse/Others. Director Austin Michael Russell also appears as Large and Terrible Frog.

Served prior to the performances on April 1, 8 and 11 will be a family-friendly meal of chicken nuggets, old-fashioned school pepperoni pizza, macaroni and cheese, corn and green beans; dessert options include brownies, cake or ice cream cup. On April 4, a show-only ‘pay what you wish’ performance will occur at 10 a.m (doors at 9:30 a.m.). Tickets can be reserved by calling the Box Office at no charge or online with a $1 processing fee.
