Reader Figures It Out

Dear Editor,

The events of the last few days made me wonder precisely when patriotism started being frowned upon by so many U.S. citizens, when American exceptionalism became taboo, when pride in our country vanished and when respect for our flag took a knee. It was about the same time that hate speech started relentlessly being hurled at conservative, caucasian Christians on TV, on social media and in the press. After much reflection, it hit me. It all started on Jan. 20, 2009. You do the math.
