Grant, scholarship offerings from Master Gardeners

The Purdue Extension Master Gardener Program trains gardening enthusiasts as volunteers to assist Purdue Extension with home horticulture education in Indiana communities.

Purdue Extension Master Gardeners are “Helping Others Grow!” The Program provides a learning framework for participants to increase their knowledge on a wide variety of horticultural subjects. In turn, participants volunteer and help others grow by sharing knowledge while providing leadership and service in educational gardening activities within their communities.

To promote gardening education, the Montgomery County Master Gardeners Club is pleased to announce the establishment of both a grant and a scholarship for Montgomery County residents.

Adults taking the Purdue Extension Master Gardener Training Course may apply for a $90 grant to reimburse them for part of the cost of the course. The MG Training Course is currently being offered as an online course beginning Feb. 1 and goes to May 3. To anyone selected as a grant recipient, reimbursement would be made upon successful completion of the course and the required hours of community service to become a Certified Extension Master Gardener. The Master Gardeners are also looking for students who are pursuing a higher education degree in some area related to horticulture or plant sciences at an accredited Indiana college or university. Students at any level may apply for a $500 scholarship to assist them with their college expenses. Applications are available at the Montgomery County Extension Office, 400 Parke Ave. in Crawfordsville and must be returned no later than April 1.
