North Montgomery Michael Cox was selected as the 2021 State High School Principal of the Year over the weekend. Cox was also named District High School Principal of District 4, an area in west-central Indiana consisting of Montgomery, Benton, Carroll, Cass, Clinton, Fountain, Tippecanoe, Warren and White counties.

It’s back! The Chamber of Commerce’s annual Christmas Parade returns after a year’s absence because of the pandemic. This year’s parade, themed The Polar Express, is scheduled to take place on Dec. 5 at 2 p.m. through downtown Crawfordsville. This year, there will also be a special opportunity for children to take a picture with Santa. Harry’s Hideout, will sponsor free visits with Santa from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the restaurant located across from the Courthouse on Main Street.

$35,000

More than $35,000 in charitable donations has been presented to local food banks and pantries just this season alone thanks to the enthusiasm and dedication of local residents who make their living in production agriculture.  The donations were given through Ceres Solutions, and were made possible by local farmers and customers who have done business with the company in the last year. Ceres Solutions Cooperative, based in Crawfordsville, Indiana, serves more than 37 counties in Indiana and Michigan with agronomy services, fuel, and propane gas.

The Friends of Ernie Pyle will receive $26,400 for exterior restoration of the birthplace of famed Indiana journalist Ernie Pyle. The grant was announced by Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch and the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs on Nov. 18. The Elder-Pyle house is among 11 properties awarded funding through the Historic Renovation Grant Program. The program distributed more than $712,000 in this round of grants.

Gillespie is Professor of Jazz Studies at Indiana University Jacobs School of Music and has performed with David Baker, Buselli-Wallarab Jazz Orchestra, Sylvia McNair, Ann-Margret, Arturo Sandoval, and many others. Stick around for coffee and donuts following the program. Freedom Baptist Church is on SR 234 west, just minutes west of the intersection at SR 234 and SR 47. You won’t want to miss this!
