Karen “Sue” Collins of Crawfordsville passed away Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2021 at home. She was 71.
Born Aug. 2, 1950 in Crawfordsville, she was the daughter of Alva Grimes and Vivian Caldwell Grimes.
Mrs. Collins attended Crawfordsville High School. She worked at Hi-Tek, then owned her own beauty shop, Collins Cuts and Curl, then later was in charge of shipping and receiving at the hospital. She was a member of the Pioneer Tractor Association and liked playing Bingo as well as going on road trips. She married Stanley K. Collins on July 6, 1969 in Crawfordsville. He passed away March 19, 2016. Mrs. Collins loved her family, loved gathering with them, and had a great listening ear. Her talent for crocheting has touched many homes, from slippers, dollies, doll dresses, table coverings and afghans, she left a legacy of love.
Survivors include two sons, Dave (Deena) Collins and Greg (Tracey) Collins; father, Alva Grimes; brother, Gary (Rhoda) Grimes; nine grandchildren, Lindsey (Jeremy) Fultz, Nathan (Ashley) Collins, Maddie Collins, Koltan Collins, Morgan (Malcom) Martin, Brooklynn Jones, Brayden Fullenwider, Courtney Collins and Zachary Collins; and her five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley; mother, Vivian; great-grandson, Knox Fultz; and two sisters, Cheryl Gano and Sharon Baney.
Visitation will be from Noon to 2 p.m. on Sunday at Burkhart Funeral Home. Services will begin at 2 p.m., followed by her burial at Indian Creek Hill Cemetery.
