Psi Iota Xi, Gamma Xi Chapter Meeting

Ten members attended a Zoom meeting of the Gamma Xi Chapter of Psi Iota Xi held on Jan. 3, 2022. Co-president Jennie Hesler called the meeting to order with the Opening Verse and attendance was taken.  A January birthday and anniversary was announced. The treasurerā€™s report and minutes of the last meeting were shared by email.  Our chapter applied for and received a grant in December from the Harold and Doris Larsen Fund for area children to receive speech and hearing therapy. The grant committee will be providing details on the application process to area school speech and hearing therapists in February. In new business, a nominations committee was formed to begin selecting a slate of officers for the next year. Michelle Dice and Jennifer Hunter volunteered for the committee.

Committee reports were presented. Tamara Hemmerlein reported that her committee will be meeting soon to plan the project with the funds provided by the state rotating grant that we received. We want to thank all in the community who have supported our chapter through the cheeseball sale and the annual appeal for donations. Your support helps our chapter with our Summer Speech Clinic and our many projects for the children of Montgomery County.  We also thank those that have supported the Elizabeth Backe Scholarship Fund that provides a scholarship each year to a Purdue University graduate student in speech and hearing. Some extra cheeseballs were made and fifty were donated to Meals on Wheels through the Montgomery County Free Clinic. Please contact a Gamma Xi member if you would like to purchase some cheeseballs. They are handy upcoming family and sporting events and cost $6 each.  Plans are being discussed for the Easter Bunny project and the April geranium sale.

The next meeting will be held on Monday, Feb. 7, 2022 at 7 p.m. The meeting was adjourned with our closing verse.
