JUMP Needs Volunteers

Sean is an 8-year-old boy that is wishing for a mentor to take him fishing. He even has his own fishing pole. Sean has been on the JUMP waiting list for close to 3 months and is really excited to have an adult volunteer to take him places and do fun things with him.

Sean’s mom describes him as a very kind child but her heart breaks for him when he sometimes gets picked on by other family members. Being one of the youngest of many siblings is not always easy for him. Mom says Sean can at times be hyper but he is very loving and can put a smile on anyone’s face. He struggles in school but is working very hard to improve and gets extra help at school. His mom says he loves to ride his bike, go swimming, go to the park, watch tv and play with his actions figures. Of course, like most kids, he loves to play games on a tablet.

Sean states he really likes school and Math is his favorite subject. He likes to play basketball but knows he needs to work on this skill. He also likes to ride his bike, play with his soccer ball and go to the movies. If he could learn something new, it would be to go bowling or ride a horse. His favorite movie is The Lion King and his favorite books are about sharks. He likes to go to water parks and eat at the China Buffet. Sean stated he is pretty good at basketball and tennis but would like to learn to swim over handed and hold his breath under water for longer length of time.

At first meeting, Sean is quiet and sweet. He is easy to talk to and he warms up quickly to others. He is ready and eager to do all the things he loves as well as learn new things once he gets a mentor. If you are interested in mentoring Sean, please contact Jill Hampton at 362-0694 ext. 103 or email [email protected].
