Owen Russell Thomas

March 21, 1958 – Feb. 25, 2022

Owen Russell Thomas, 63, Waynetown, passed away on Friday evening on Feb. 25, 2022 at home while surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Urbana, Ill. on March 21, 1958 to the late Russell Edward & Lola Mae (Viles) Thomas.

Mr. ThomasOwen attended Waynetown High School and worked as a mechanic at Crown Cork & Seal for 42 years. He enjoyed hunting, tinkering in the garage, wood working and working in his sawmill. He never knew a stranger and if you ever visited you were always offered a cup of coffee. He loved spending time with his family and will be missed by many.

He married the love of his life, Pamela Shelton, on Nov. 2, 1985, she survives.

Survivors also include four children, Amanda (Thomas) Babb, Travis (Deanna Lynch) Thomas, Jesse (Polly) Thomas and Erin (Kris Mortimore) Halsey-Thomas; two brothers, William “Bill” (Sarah) Thomas and Ed (Nancie) Thomas; lots of grandchildren and great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Joshua Kein Thomas; and a brother, John Thomas.

Visitation is scheduled at Sanders Shoemaker Funeral Care, 202 Bratton Road in Waynetown, on Friday, March 4, 2022 from 5 – 8 p.m. The funeral is scheduled at the funeral home on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at 11 a.m., with Pastor Glenna Joyce Warren officiating.
