A Mentor For Marley

The Montgomery County Youth Service Bureau, JUMP Program, is a program that matches adult volunteers with the youth of our community. The purpose of this is to provide support to the child as they navigate their childhood. Also, it is meant to give that child someone to talk to and spend time with while experiencing fun activities together. As a way to let people know about the kids on the waiting list, the JUMP program is running weekly profiles on the kids from the waiting list, changing their name and ages slightly to protect their privacy.

On of the girls I am about to profile is age 12 and sometimes teenagers can be scary to adult volunteers. This particular girl is a joy to be around and is a very artistic and energetic person. Her mom describes her as being a very caring and loving person who is an excellent student! She likes to spend time hanging with her friends and she likes to write and create art!

Marley says she likes school and her favorite subjects are history, science and art. She likes drawing, watching tv, writing stories and novels. She likes walking, hiking, baking, cooking, board games, craft projects, sewing, making jewelry and so much more. She would like to be involved in soccer and volleyball but her family recently moved to the area and she missed the deadline to sign up. She also plays the guitar and she enjoys eating at the Golden Corral.

Marley says she would like a mentor to get her out of the house more and so she can have more social interaction. She would like someone who is nice and open minded who likes nature as well as doing creative activities.
