United Way In Montgomery County Announces Kindergarten Countdown Camp

United Way in Montgomery County is partnering with the Crawfordsville Community School Corporation to offer Kindergarten Countdown Camp (or K-Camp) in June 2022. This camp is designed to prepare children with little to no preschool experience for their new roles as kindergarten students. The camp is taught by licensed, experienced teachers and will take place at Hose Elementary School. K-Camp is a free summer camp.

“One of our Cradle to Career commitments is for children to enter Kindergarten ready to succeed,” said Gina Haile, United Way in Montgomery County Area Director. “Our staff in Greater Lafayette have been running K-Camp for over 10 years and we are thrilled to expand into Montgomery County.” Haile added. “Working with Assistant Superintendent Ryker, Hose Principal Starlin, and other Corporation leadership has been a great collaboration. We are bringing our ideas together to meet the needs of incoming Crawfordsville kindergartners and ensuring their educational journey is off to a positive start.”

K-Camp will run Monday-Friday, 8:00am-11:30am from June 6th – June 30th. Students will have transportation, plus breakfast and lunch provided by Crawfordsville Community School Corporation. In addition to stipend support for a teacher and an aide, United Way will provide classroom supplies, along with a t-shirt, backpack and school supplies for each student.

Registration is required. Parents who are interested in K-Camp can do so by visiting the United Way in Montgomery County website at www.uwmontgomery.org and following the link to sign up. Parents may also register during Kindergarten Round-up at Hose Elementary on April 22.
