Athens Arts Moving; Current Location to Close on April 19
In the last 24 months, many organizations have had to pivot their model while still remaining in business – not-for-profit charity organizations included. Because of the advocates in our community that support the arts, Athens Arts has continued to serve the mission of their organization.
Athens Arts is excited to share a new space with the community to continue to offer vibrant opportunities to engage the community in art. In mid-May, Athens Arts will move from their current location to a new venue at 216 E. Main St. Thought their space may be different, their mission and vision will remain the same. Continue reading to see what they are planning for the coming months.
The first quarter of 2022 has been a busy time for Athens Arts. Among their many activities and events, they have:
- Collaborated with the new Montgomery Government Center and the Art League Of Montgomery County to allow artists with MoCo connections to sell their original art to be displayed at the new center. The 10% commission and 5% processing fee that the gallery collected from sales helped the artists to keep more of the money for their work than in most gallery sales.
- Opened a preschool program at the Montgomery County Headstart and Discovery Preschool with artists Stacy Bogan and Ellie Dieckmeyer. This was possible because of the Montgomery County Community Foundation’s grant to expand the Athens Art Gallery program.
- Featured an in-person opening reception for the Fishero Gallery
- Started the relocation of Athens Arts, which would not have been possible without the leadership of the board members in helping with remodeling and fundraising.
Be sure to mark your calendars for upcoming art events:
