Gloria Long Attends Delta Theta Tau National Convention

Crawfordsville’s Gloria Long attended the 114th national convention of Delta Theta Tau Sorority earlier this month at the Hilton Chicago / Oak Brook Hills Resort. The con with the theme, “The Roaring 20s – Delta Style.”

Delegates from 58 chapters were represented. Long represented Epsilon Omega Chapter.

National president Terry Riester of Mooresville presided at the business meetings during the convention that had an overall theme of the Roaring ‘20s – Delta style.

All chapters combined donated $346,664.40 to philanthropic projects during 2020-21.  Members supported their communities with 83,269.25 volunteer hours during the past year. Awards were given to chapters with the highest amount of money given for philanthropy, and also for the chapters with the most volunteer hours.

Delta Theta Tau has been a supporter of the National Foundation for Ectodermal Dysplasias for more than 20 years. The sorority’s Educational Grant program enables students to continue their studies in the graduate field of Counseling. The delegation voted to give $10,000 to NFED and allotted $5,000 for Educational Grants to be used in 2022-23.

Julie Callis of Martinsville was elected to serve as 2022-23 national president.

Delta Theta Tau, a National Philanthropic Sorority, was founded in 1903 in Muncie by five high school girls. The first national convention was held in 1908 in Elwood.  The 115th national convention will be held July 12-16 at the Fort Worth Sheraton in Texas.
