Fatal Crash In Wingate

On Wednesday, at 2:38 p.m., the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a personal injury crash involving two vehicles on Start Road 25 in Wingate.

Deputies discovered that a semi tractor-trailer was traveling north on State Road 25 when a southbound Ford F-150 came into the northbound lane and a head-on collision occurred. The drive of the semi was identified as John Kelly, 44, of Chicago, Ill. The driver of the Ford F-150 was identified as Jeremy Pruett, 40, of Waynetown. Despite lifesaving efforts, Pruett was pronounced deceased as the scene.

The semi was owned by United Road of Romulus, Mich. and the car hauler trailer was empty.

It is unknown at this time why the Ford F-150 entered the northbound lanes. A crash reconstructionist from the Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene and is continuing to investigate. Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call Sergeant Jake Watson at 765-362-3740.
