Final Montgomery County March For Life

Sunday, Jan. 22, 2023 will be the 50th anniversary of Roe v Wade, the Supreme Court decision that struck down a multitude of state laws protecting unborn children and legalized the killing of babies in their mother’s wombs.

For the last 50 years our nation has suffered greatly under the cloud of this demonic decision. Abortion, divorce, infanticide, child abuse, fornication, homosexuality, transgenderism, pedophilia, mental illness and a host of other social ills have increased in the wake of this godless affront to the sacredness of human life.

25 years ago the Orthodox Christians of our community began marking this date with a local March for Life which started at the Planned Parenthood at Washington Square and ended at the court house.  Not long after this the local Planned Parenthood closed its doors and last year on June 24 the United States Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, sending the pro-life battle back to the states.

Therefore on Sunday, Jan. 22, 2023 the 25th and final Montgomery County March for Life will be held at 4:30 p.m. beginning at the Women’s Resource Center, 407 E Market Street.

The event will begin with a baby shower for the center where people will have the opportunity to tour the facility and donate diapers, baby clothes, and other items to support the ministry.

This year the event will be a celebration of the overturning of Roe v. Wade and will include a cross procession from the center through the downtown area and back to the center. The cross procession will be a fitting way to celebrate this monumental victory of the Prolife movement and close the door on this sad chapter in our country‘s history.

Following the procession at 6pm there will be a chili supper at Holy Transfiguration Orthodox Church 4636 Fall Creek Road. Participants are invited to bring a crockpot of chili to enter into the chili cook off contest with all proceeds going to the Women’s Resource Center.

Moving forward the focus will shift to June 24, an annual celebration of a significant pro-life victory and the ongoing battle for life here in the state of Indiana.
