Chamber of Commerce Welcomes Seed Library

Wednesday, the Crawfordsville-Montgomery County Chamber welcomed Crawfordsville’s newest home-growing solution, Seed Library, with a ceremonial ribbon cutting. The event, hosted at the Crawfordsville District Public Library and sponsored by Hoosier Heartland State Bank, Valero Renewables, and Nucor Indiana, saw a turnout of over 20 enthusiastic members of our community.

The Seed Library is a collaborative effort between the Master Gardeners from Purdue Extension–Montgomery County and the Crawfordsville District Public Library. It can be found on the second floor of the library and allows anyone who may enter to take home up to 10 different packs of seeds to plant at no expense to whoever may want to dip their toes in home gardening.

The Seed Library will kick off a year of events on March 9 with their Seed Starting event. It will take place at 6:30 pm in the District Library and feature guest speaker Amanda Ingram, an educator at Wabash College with her Ph.D. in Plant Biology from Cornell University.

When asked about her thoughts on the Seed Garden, Chamber Executive Director Stacy

Sommer said, “I’m proud of our community and the services they offer. I think this is a great opportunity to both beautify our community and provide resources for anyone to get into a hobby as productive as this.”
