Mikinna King and Georgia Taylor Dancing With The Montgomery County Stars Profile

Dancing with the Montgomery County Stars is the largest fundraiser for the Montgomery County Youth Service Bureau. Jason Anderson and Ashley Clute are the latest selections announced by the YSB.

The event is scheduled to be May 20th at Knowling Fieldhouse on the Campus of Wabash College and is to start at 6 p.m. The doors will open at 5 p.m.

Mikinna King is a realtor for Heard Real Estate Team | Exp Realty. In her spare time, she loves to hike, swim, and spend time with her animals. She also enjoys shopping, and spending time with her family and friends. She has lived in Montgomery County for eight years. She moved to Crawfordsville with her parents, Brian and Melissa King, and brother, Dylan, when she was 13. Not knowing anyone here, she very quickly got involved in different activities. She and her younger brother were involved in 4H, and also a part of the local homeschool group, CACHE. They live on a mini farm where they raise chickens, turkeys, and goats. She also has quite a few dogs and cats. After moving to Crawfordsville her mom became ill with Lyme Disease and stayed home and homeschooled her and her brother. She loves any music with a good beat, but one of her favorites that makes her dance every time is “Classic” by MKTO. When asked to be a Star, Mikinna says, “I was shocked! I’ve been to the event before and it was always such a great experience. Never in a million years did I think I would be asked to be a Star! But I am so so excited to be participating!” Mikinna wanted to participate in the YSB fundraiser because, she said “I thought this fundraiser would be a great way to give back to the community, as well as show support for such an amazing organization. I didn’t realize how much the Bureau did for the youth in the community until I was asked to be a Star and really dug into their services. I am very excited to fundraise and show my support for them!”

Georgia Taylor is a dance teacher and student, and a brand ambassador for EPN, which is a sports supplement brand. When not working, she likes to sketch, clean, play video games, and choreograph dance. She has lived in Montgomery County for 18 years. She is the oldest of six children, four girls and two boys. Her mother is a SAHM and homeschooled her all the way, preschool through her senior year of high school, and she is continuing with the rest of her siblings as well. Her sister is at Anderson University preparing to graduate in Media Arts and Dance, and the next oldest is preparing for college and getting ready to graduate high school at 17 years old. Georgia says, “I’m very proud of my mom for pushing us and staying strong through teaching us all.” Georgia danced for Crawfordsville Academy of Dance for 16 years, learning the Italian ballet and classical dance techniques. Eight of those years she auditioned for and participated in the CAD Jr. and Company as well. She also danced a year in Gainesville, GA, when her family moved away for my father’s work, and there she had her first taste of Russian ballet. Georgia loves all kinds of music and dance, but says, according to her phone, she listens most often to alternative and hip hop/rap. She decided to participate as a pro in the fundraiser because she is very passionate about dance. “And after our initial meeting and talking about the YSB and what kind of impact we’re actually making by doing this show, I’m even more motivated to give it my best shot. I had no idea how much they do for the children of our community, so I am definitely proud to be able to help in this way.”
