Kirtley Appointed by State Supreme Court as Senior Judge

Raymond M. Kirtley has been certified by the Indiana Judicial Nominating Commission for service as senior judge and is now appointed by the Indiana Supreme Court to serve in the Court of Appeals, the Tax Court, or any circuit, superior, or probate court during 2025.

In 1989, the Indiana legislature authorized the creation of the senior judge program, allowing Indiana courts to use the services of retired judges to supplement existing judicial resources.  A senior judge may be used as replacement when the regular judge is unavailable; a complement to the sitting judges; or to oversee the process of certain types of cases or court programs.

Judge Kirtley was first certified as senior judge in 2013 and previously served as Judge of the Montgomery County Court from 1985-2002.
