Applications are open through March 7 for 2025’s Camp Kilowatt — a fun and unique summer-camp experience coming June 4-7 for students entering seventh grade. Those interested can apply at tipmont.com/camp. The deadline to apply is Friday, March 7. Tipmont will select and notify the campers chosen to attend in March. The camp is open to students who will enter seventh grade in fall 2025. Each year, Tipmont sponsors several students to attend Camp Kilowatt, located on the 650-acre grounds of Camp Tecumseh in nearby Brookston, Ind. This experience combines traditional summer-camp activities for about 100 young people from across the state of Indiana, with opportunities to learn about alternative energy, electricity generation, internet safety and more. “Camp Kilowatt incorporates swimming, horseback riding, ziplining and many more traditional summer-camp activities kids enjoy while introducing them to ideas and inspirations in the fields of energy and communications,” says Jody Hamilton, Tipmont’s director of external affairs. “This includes everything from safety tips to considering career possibilities in these essential services. “It’s a terrific way for young people to make memories and friendships they’ll always cherish, gain science education, and consider where they might fit in the future of these growing industries.” The Camp Kilowatt program was developed by a committee of electric cooperative employees from Indiana. The camp is funded in part by Indiana’s electric cooperatives, Hoosier Energy, Wabash Valley Power Alliance, Indiana Electric Cooperatives and other industry partners. |
