Carolyn Snyder Honored by MCFC
On March 9, 2025, the Montgomery County Free Clinic honored Carolyn Snyder, RN, for her 56 years of dedicated service to the Christian Nursing Service and the Free Clinic. More than friends, health professionals and family members gathered at the W Club Lounge in Wabash College’s Little Giant Stadium to celebrate her remarkable contributions. Refreshments were generously provided by Wabash College and First Christian Church.
Carolyn’s journey began in 1968 when, at 27 and expecting her first child, she joined a group of women committed to addressing healthcare access and social issues in Montgomery County. Her roles evolved from establishing the first Christian Nursing Service office to initiating home nursing services and free clinics for children and adults. She served as the first secretary of the service and twice as its board president, guiding the organization through pivotal transitions that led to the formation of the Free Clinic. She also served as a school nurse and a tireless advocate for children’s health.
In recognition of her extraordinary contributions, the Free Clinic announced the dedication of the triage / patient check-in station at the Dr. Mary Ludwig Free Clinic in her honor. A plaque will commemorate her compassionate leadership and lifetime of service, inspiring future generations of volunteers.
Carolyn Snyder’s unwavering dedication has profoundly impacted countless lives, and the Montgomery County Free Clinic is deeply grateful for her enduring commitment to the community.
