231 North About to Be $#*&

If you drive just north of beautiful downtown Crawfordsville much, you might want to start thinking about alternatives.

The Indiana Department of Transportation shared that lane closures and traffic pattern shifts are going to take place on U.S. 231 through Crawfordsville.

Beginning on or after Monday, traffic will shift from the southbound lanes into the northbound lanes for the first phase of this project. This will take place between Interstate 74 and Market Street. Once work in the southbound lanes is complete, traffic will then be shifted into the northbound lanes. The project will conclude with single-lane closures later this year with traffic being brought back to its original configuration.

The purpose of this project is to install pipes and other structures, as well as hot mix asphalt patching, and other resurfacing work. The entire project is anticipated to last until October but is weather-dependent and subject to change.

INDOT encourages drivers to slow down, use caution, and avoid distracted driving through this and all work zones.
