JUMP Gets Creative

The mentors and mentees from the Youth Service Bureau’s JUMP program got creative for their October monthly match activity. The JUMP Program is a mentoring program for local youth to help support them as they grow and change into healthy, productive adults. These youths are matched with a caring adult and meet regularly to hang out and have fun.

One part of the JUMP Program is the free monthly group activities provided by the Montgomery County Youth Service Bureau. The mentors and mentees were able to tap into their creative side this month as Nick from GG Magic and Balloons came to teach them how make balloon creations. Nick walked the group through how to make a balloon dog, flower, sword and other items. “Nick was fun, encouraging and patient with everyone. After 12 years in the business, he is a pro and made this a great afternoon for everyone, “said Sara Clapp, program manager.

This is just one example of a fun event that the program offers each month for matches. Our goal is to provide a fun free event for our mentors and mentees to attend if they are available. Our matches meet a minimum of 4 hours a month, in an informal atmosphere in the community or at one of our events. It is a great way for youth and their mentees to have an adventure, learn a new skill or just hang out. Mentoring is a lot of fun and great for kids who need another positive role model in their lives.

There are currently several kids on the waiting list waiting to be matched with an adult volunteer. If you would like to become a part of the JUMP program, contact Sara Clapp at 765-362-0694, ext. 102 or email [email protected].
