Taste Week Finally Here! Get Appetites Ready!

The idea that began 18 years ago as a fun summertime fundraiser for the General Lew Wallace Study & Museum has evolved into one of the county’s largest picnics and one of the area’s most successful summer festivals. The 18th Taste of Montgomery County is returning to the grounds of the Museum in Crawfordsville this Saturday. It kicks off at noon and runs until 9 p.m. Museum staff and a small army of volunteers are preparing for the most successful outing ever.

Some of Montgomery County’s finest restaurants, caterers and food vendors will be serving up some of their most delectable recipes on the Museum grounds this year. The list includes Acai Bowls, China Inn, Four Seasons Local Market, Gordo’s, Greeks Pizzeria, Jesus Kettle Corn, The Juniper Spoon, Klooz Brewz, Lew Wallace Society, Messer’s Bar & Grill, Sabores de Veracruz Bakery, Smokin Melts & Rollin Dough, Swicks Kitchen & Emporium and Wildfire 348!! Truly something for every taste bud!

Accompanying the delicious food available at the Taste will be fabulous live music from local and regional acts, representing the quality and variety that Taste-goers have always enjoyed. This year’s Taste features three musical acts. The Golden Oldies Jazz Band (1–3 p.m.), a local group of talented jazz musicians; The Midtown Madmen (4–6 p.m.), who bring the energy of Elvis, Buddy Holly, Little Richard, Johnny Cash and more to the stage; and 45 RPM (7–9 p.m.), Multi-national band, who take their audience on a magical journey back to the music that changed rock history. Faithfully reproducing the hits of the British invasion and America’s musical response.

Advance tickets are still available for $5 for adults and $2 for students. Admission on the day of the Taste will be $8 for adults and $3 for students. Advance ticket holders will also be able to get into the gate faster on the day of the Taste, as they won’t have to wait in line for admission.

The Taste would not be possible without our generous sponsors. Every year the Taste Committee and the Lew Wallace Study Preservation Society Board and staff are amazed by the local businesses and individuals who contribute to this event and we sincerely thank them for their support.
