MOTOCROSS BACK IN TOWN
Indiana has long been known as the place to be for racing. From the Greatest Spectacle in Racing at the corner (if a roundabout can be called a corner) of 16th and Georgetown in Speedway to the Brickyard to Indianapolis Raceway Park in Clayton to dozens of tracks around the state . . . if there’s a need for speed, Indiana’s got you covered!
And as everyone in Crawfordsville and Montgomery County know, when it comes to the two-wheeled variety, well quite simply the highest level of racing on the planet will be found this weekend just south of town at the world’s most prestigious and single-largest professional motocross event, the 78th running of the Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations. Ironman Raceway will become the fifth different United States venue to host what is affectionately referred to as the “Olympics of Motocross” for the three-day affair beginning Friday. And with that, The Paper takes a closer look at this event, by the numbers!

The lineup for Team USA will consist of three of the sport’s biggest and most successful stars, anchored by four-time AMA Pro Motocross Champion and two-time AMA Supercross Champion Eli Tomac (Colorado). He will be flanked by fellow AMA Pro Motocross Champion and AMA Supercross Champion Chase Sexton (Illinois) and rising star Haiden Deegan (California), the reigning back-to-back AMA Pro Motocross Champion.

The host nation is the standard bearer of success at the MXoN, having claimed 23 victories in 46 attempts, with the USA’s most recent triumph coming on home soil in 2022 from Michigan’s RedBud MX
