The Human Library Marks 26th Year

This past Saturday marked the 26th year of the Human Library, hosted by the Humans United for Equality and set at the Crawfordsville District Library.

The concept was the anthropomorphism of the concept of people being an open book.
The idea is simple: a reader will check out a book / person with experience and interview and dialogue with them for 30 minutes.

According to librarian Jamey Goins, “the human library has been around for 26 years and it’s a not-for-profit learning platform that learning platform that hosts personal conversations . . . the human library creates a safe space for dialogue where topics are discussed openly.”

This year’s topics, among many included art, foster care, addiction and experiences with law enforcement.

A large crowd turned out for the Human Library experience, hosted by Humans United for Equality.
Topics of those available were put on a board.
