Betty Jean Williams, 72, rural Veedersburg, passed away 12:26 PM Wednesday March 2, 2022 at Bickford Senior Living in Crawfordsville, Ind.
She was born Sept. 26, 1949 in Frankfort, Ind. the daughter of the late Ithel Belmont “Mike” and Mildred Louise (Wilkins) Davis.
She married Lee Harold Williams August 3, 1975 at Pleasant Hill Church in Thorntown, Ind.; he preceded her in death Feb. 11, 2022.
She graduated from Clinton Prairie High School in 1967, and graduated from Purdue University in 1971 with a Bachelor Degree in Elementary Education. She was employed as a kindergarten teacher at Covington Elementary School 1971-1978, and then became a full-time farm wife and mom.
She enjoyed helping Lee on the farm, and especially enjoyed working with the Dairy Cows, raising the baby calves, and running the combine shelling corn. She continued with her love for working with kids as a 4-H Leader for 29 years with the Millcreek Go-Getters, along with substitute teaching for many years. She also enjoyed hosting many school kids and giving them a tour of the Dairy Farm. Along with Lee, she was a member of the South Fountain Pioneers and enjoyed running the ice cream machine at the county fair. She had also served as a board member for Bonebrake Cemetery.
Survivors include three daughters, Nancy Jean (Devin) Bell of Colfax, Lee Ann (Josh) Thompson of Crawfordsville, Laura Sue (Andrew) Bush of Veedersburg; six grandchildren, Jayden Thompson, Tyler Thompson, Dawson Bell, Bryce Bush, Ainsley Bell and Avery Bush; two sisters, Carolyn Sue Davis of Covington and Beverly (Jack) Kauffman of Lafayette; and a sister-in-law, Louise Davis of Thorntown.
She is preceded in death by her brother, Jerry Davis.
Funeral service is scheduled at 2 p.m. Friday March 11, 2022 at Sterling Christian Church, 701 S Sterling Ave, Veedersburg, IN, with Pastor Gary Johnson officiating. Visitation is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. Friday March 11, at the church and continue until the time of service at 2. Burial will be at Bonebrake Cemetery near Veedersburg.
