Everyone goes Hawg Wild over the TASTE! of Montgomery County
The idea that a nice night of outstanding food, even better drinks, and some great music could actually serve as an organization’s single most important event of the year is a little out there. But over at the General Lew Wallace Study & Museum, that’s exactly what’s happening, and quite successfully.
In less than two weeks, the Study once again unveils another edition of the annual TASTE! of Montgomery County, an event dedicated to highlighting the best food and drink in Montgomery County, as well as showcasing some excellent live music. But the most important part of the TASTE! is that it serves as the Study’s largest fundraiser of the year, with the money going to exhibits and programming for the entire year. Last year, the Gen. Lew Wallace Study & Museum provided educational programs for more than 1,300 individuals, both in the museum and outside of it.
As part of the TASTE! the Lew Wallace Study will be putting on five live musical acts, three on the traditional stage and two more on the grounds in between the main acts. Here are the artists who will be playing at this year’s TASTE!
Study & Museum director Larry Pjaalberg described the three acts, saying, “Laughing Jack will open our musical celebration from 1 - 3 p.m. Laughing Jack advertises themselves as “Purveyors of Acoustical Tunes, Ballads, Shanties, and Songs of America, Ireland, and the British Isles.” Band members are Garry Farren, Liz Bohall, Dmitri Alano, and Mario Joven. Garry Farren was with the band Hogeye Navvy for more than twenty-five years.
“Maddie and the Roadies will be performing from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. Indy’s newest trio performs current and classic hits in pop, country, and R&B. Guaranteed to have you dancing all night long! The infectious energy and raw talent they bring to every show are creating a buzz a lot of people are talking about. This young trio provides an atmosphere of fun and dancing with current and classic pop songs anchored by the powerful vocals of Maddie Lindley.
“Headlining the TASTE of Montgomery County is Django Knight. Knight is becoming known as one of the premier Guitarist & Vocalist’s in the music industry . . . Django has recently released a self-titled EP, available digitally worldwide. At the young age of 21, his goal is to lead the young generation by example through his love and passion for music. Electrifying groove that will make your soul move. Django will take the stage at the 2019 TASTE from 8 – 10 p.m.”
