Lou Mildred Buckley Hamilton, 90, formerly of Crawfordsville, passed away Tuesday morning, Aug. 7, 2018 at Creasy Springs in Lafayette.
Born Dec. 8, 1927 in Glasgow, Ky., she was the daughter of Gilbert Smith and Ada Bridges Smith.
She attended school at Glasgow. She married Alva Buckley and later James Hamilton, both of whom preceded her in death.
She was a member of the VFW auxiliary and a former member of React, American Legion Auxiliary and the Moose. She loved doing crafts, playing Bingo and bowling. She worked at Mallory’s for several years and later at Sommer Metalcraft. She was a Crawfordsville School Crossing Guard for many years.
Survivors include a daughter, Brenda (Bill) Dicks of Linden; two sisters, Mary Ann (Willie) Nichols of Smiths Grove, Ky., Pauline McClellan of Glasgow, Ky.; two brothers, James G. Smith of Crawfordsville, Richard (Jeanie) Smith of Thorntown; daughter-in-law, Dorothy Buckley; nine grandchildren, Shane Dicks, Stacey Dicks Hartley, Michelle Buckley, Brian Buckley, Richie Buckley, Angie Buckley Christmas, Jennifer Buckley, Robin Harris, Deedra Buckley; six step-grandchildren, Tammy, Jennifer, Mike, Tonya, Gary, Tammy; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three sons, James David Buckley, Joe Donald Buckley and Larry Richard Buckley; three brothers, Herbert Smith, Joe Smith and Robert Smith; three sisters, Joyce Childress, Marie Taylor and Maggie Carbo; and a grandson, Brent Buckley.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 11 at Burkhart Funeral Home in Crawfordsville. Family and friends may pay their respects two hours prior to service. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery Grant Avenue.
