Gerald “Gary” Lester West

Gerald “Gary” Lester West, 65, of Crawfordsville, passed away at home on Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2022. 

He was born in Crawfordsville on Nov. 18, 1956 to James Thomas West and Sally Jean (Fine) Willis.

Mr. West attended Crawfordsville High School and throughout the years worked at RR Donnelleys, Mid-States, Nor-Cote and more recently was the warehouse shipping supervisor at shippingsupply.com in Avon. On Dec. 2, 1972 he married the love of his life, Phyllis Demoret. He enjoyed playing golf, pool, throwing darts, canoeing, listening to Bob & Tom, was a Colts and Pacers fan and enjoyed watching Indy Racing.

Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Demoret; his father, James (Linda) West; his step-father, Terry Willis; his mother-in-law, Hazel Staggs; two children, Jennifer (Patrick) Busenbark and Clinton (Alana) West; a brother, Charles (Kathy) West; two sisters, Lori (Neal) Miles and Elizabeth (James) Halfhill; seven grandchildren, Destiny (Jacob), Kierra, Nickolas, Brennden, Emmett, Reese and Raelyn; two great grandchildren, Paislee and Oliver, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Sally Jean Willis; a sister, Kim Renee West; his brother-in-law, Mike Demoret; his father-in-law, Floyd Demoret; his paternal grandparents, Gerald and Dorothy West; and his maternal grandparents, Lester & Frances Fine.

Visitation will be at Sanders Priebe Funeral Care, 315 S Washington St, in Crawfordsville on Friday, Jan. 14, 2022 from 12 p.m. till the time of the funeral service at 3:30 p.m., with Pastor Todd Randles officiating. Entombment will follow at Oak Hill Mausoleum.
