Halftime at the Statehouse

This week, the Indiana General Assembly reached the halfway point of the 2022 legislative session.

The Senate and the House of Representatives have chosen which bills will continue in the legislative process. Now, bills will be eligible to be heard in the opposite chamber for further consideration.

My Senate Republican colleagues and I are happy to see several of our priority items move on to the House of Representatives including Senate Bill 2 and Senate Bill 3.

SB 2 would ensure schools receive full funding for children who would have otherwise been considered virtual students during the fall of 2021 due to COVID-19 and students in quarantine on the fall count date.

SB 3 would allow Indiana to end the public health emergency and ensure the state can continue receiving certain federal benefits and hold voluntary community vaccination clinics as needed.

If you have any questions or concerns about these bills or others, feel free to contact me at [email protected].
