Historical Society Civil War Presentation July 31

The Montgomery County Historical Society is kicking off its new Lessons in History series with an engaging presentation on the Civil War. The event will take place on Thursday, July 31 from 10 to 11 a.m. at the historic Lane Place in Crawfordsville.

This inaugural presentation invites the local community to explore some of the unique and historically significant items in the MCHS collection. Guests will gain a deeper understanding of Civil War-era artifacts, from medical tools and uniforms to ammunition.

MCHS Executive Director Jill Coates-Matthews and Assistant Director Owen Bennett will lead the presentation, providing historical insights and highlighting the fascinating stories behind the artifacts. Topics covered will include Civil War medicine, military uniforms, local involvement in the war and more.

This event is part of the Lessons in History series, aimed at educating the public about Montgomery County’s rich history through engaging, in-depth presentations. Keep an eye out for additional presentations in the future.
